Ceramic Dental Implant

Ceramic dental implants provide a metal-free, biocompatible, and white tooth replacement that can brighten your smile. While metal dental implants made of titanium and trace alloying metals have been widely used by dentists, they pose a number of disadvantages such as potential for immunologic (allergic) and esthetic (cosmetic) compromises. Specifically, traditional titanium implants have more potential to cause gingival irritation, allergic reactions, or dark shadowing in the gums over time when compared to ceramic implants.

What are the benefits for Zirconia Implants Compared to Titanium?

The latest generation of zironia dental implants have the following benefits over titanium implants:

  1. Zirconia implants are white and display a pink to white hue in the event of recession, which occurs over the life-time of an implant. Recession around titanium implants will present as grey in the gum tissue

  2. Zirconia shows a higher degree of biocompatibility with the gum tissues, recorded as lower rates of gum inflammation than compared to titanium alloys

  3. Zirconia has no potential for galvanism and is more resistant to chemical corrosion relative, to metal alternatives
